Day 28 - Oban to Silloth
We left Ganavan after breakfast at about 9. It was pouring with rain. The route took us north before we reached the A82 going south. Shortly after leaving we passed a very striking bridge over the mouth of Loch Etive called the Connel Bridge and realised that we were not that far from Glencoe.
We carried on through some dramatic scenery. The rain gradually eased and then stopped.
We had a short coffee stop at Firkin Point, Loch Lomond. Fortunately it had stopped raining so we had a little walk.
We continued past Glasgow and had a lunch stop at Strathaven, a little market town to the West of the motorway. It was a lovely place with nice shops and a small stream running through.
It also had a nice park with a lake and a miniature railway.
We then continued to Silloth. It took us a different way to the M74, passing through a village called Boghead 😂
The rain started again when we rejoined the motorway and was really heavy until just before we crossed the border to England where the roads were really dry and no sign of having had rain.
It was nice and sunny when we arrived in Silloth. We checked in and had a rest before having dinner at the B&B. It was getting very windy. We tried to go for a walk along the prom but it was difficult to stand up and then the rain started. We went to one of the few pubs in the town and had a drink before an early night.
